In the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Université de Paris is putting in place health measures to enable you to approach the new academic year in a safe manner and to protect the health of everyone.

Updated 05/10/2020 following the switch to the maximum alert in Paris and the surrounding areas.

General Health Guidelines

Avoiding close contact and social distancing rules applies to all staff and students on all the sites and campuses regardless of their destination.

The measures are based on the following fundamental guidelines:

Wearing a mask is mandatory on all premises, university campus both inside and outside.
Physical distancing with one meter minimum or one space between seats is recommended whenever possible.
Washing hands is highly recommended.

As of October 6, 2020 given the switch to the maximum alert,  the intake capacity of students in classrooms and lecture halls, libraries and catering halls are strictly reduced to 50% (1 seat out of 2) of the nominal capacity. All procedures and instructions below, are in place since the beginning of the academic year, remain valid.

Individual prevention

All students and staff are requested to:

Adhere to the health guidelines and social distancing inside all University premises as well as on the outside.
Be attentive to any signs of Covid-19 and to stay at home when the symptoms arise: coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath, fever, sore throat, chills, headache, unexplained intense fatigue, sudden loss of taste or smell … ;
Consult or teleconsult immediately their attending physician to be tested as needed.
Notify the university: their training manager or the pedagogical department of their UFR (for students) or their hierarchy and occupational medicine (for staff).
Inform their contacts of the follow-up actions recommended by the doctor: PCR test, arrest, 7-day quarantine.

Impact and adaptation on University Life

Since last March, the global health crisis linked to Covid-19 affected the daily life of everyone requiring an adjustment to our lifestyles. These changes to our routines will continue at the start of the academic year 2020/2021.

Work Organisation

• Remote working is ongoing (up to 2 days per week).
• Digital solutions are preferred to limit the number of meetings and travel generated.
• Wearing a mask is systematic and mandatory in offices, open spaces, corridors and meeting rooms, even if there is physical distance.  The mask can only be removed if you are alone in an individual or collective space.

Educational Facilities

As of October 6, 2020 given the switch to a maximum alert zone, the intake capacity of the students in classrooms and lecture halls,  are strictly reduced to 50% (1 seat out of 2) of the nominal capacity. Blended learning (remote and on-site) and by group rotation of students should be prioritized.

In the amphitheaters: the mask is mandatory for both the professor and students. Students occupy one seat out of two.
In the classrooms: masks must be worn by the professor and students. The students are spread out in the classroom respecting social distancing of 1 meter as much as possible.
In the libraries: masks must be worn. One seat out of two remains unoccupied in order to respect social distancing given these are very busy spaces.
Disinfectant and protective means for equipment used by the professors such as microphones, remote controls, etc. are in place.

The intake capacity of the students in classrooms and lecture halls, libraries, university cafeterias and catering halls are also strictly reduced to 50%.

Digital Tools

Université de Paris provides digital tools to help you organise interactions remotely (meetings on-line) and courses (remote classes, videoconferencing, …).

A unique online learning platform – Moodle Université de Paris – is also accessible via your u-paris.fr login. Teaching teams and school personnel are invited to submit all teaching materials and all useful information related to the courses.

Libraries

The libraries Grands-Moulins, Sciences, Bichat, Cochin, Cordeliers, Necker,  Villemin, Montrouge, Garancière, BIU Santé – Médecine, BIU Santé – Pharmacie, Jeanne-Chauvin, Henri-Piéron, SHS et STAPS are open.

The sanitary conditions affect library operaions. Specific guidelines apply to libaries:

  • Wearing a mask is mandatory as in all Université de Paris premises ( in all spaces and at any moment including at your desk and in individual offices).
  • Respect physical distancing : one meter minimum and one chair unoccupied between chairs. The number of seats is limited.
Access to group work rooms is suspended in some libraries. Do not move the chairs. Respect the maximum capacity of the rooms.
In some libraries, the break time is limited: your belongings can be put aside if you do not respect the instructions.
  • Washing hands is required when entering the library and before touching documents, computors, printers, vending machines.  Hand sanitizer is available.
  • If you wish to clean your desk or keyboard and your mouse from the BU, a virucidal solution is available from the staff.
