The international seminar “BRICs and emerging economies” of INALCO-CREE, in collaboration with the EHESS-FMSH, the University of Paris – Global Research Institute of Paris (GRIP), and the University Paris-Saclay, is dedicated since 2011 to the study of the economic transformations in emerging contexts. With the rising of the BRICS and emerging countries in international trade, we are gradually witnessing a shift in the world´s center of gravity. However, behind their apparent homogeneity which, is more normative than observed, these countries are heterogeneous in their socio-economic regime, differentiated in their trajectory, or even diverse in the South-North and South-South relations in which they are part. Welcoming international researchers and students interested in the contemporary transformations of these economies in Asia, Latin America, or Africa, this bi-monthly seminar offers a place conducive to the intersection of different fields and comparative approaches of the emerging countries’ development trajectory.
