Overview :<\/h3>\n

The Joint Research Unit Genetic Stability, Stem Cells and Radiation<\/em> (SGCSR) focuses its research on the molecular mechanisms responsible for DNA damage repair and genome stability, as well as on normal and cancer stem cells (germline, hematopoietic, epidermal and neural).<\/p>\n

By combining these two research areas, the unit’s teams are able to conduct innovative research into cellular and tissue responses to genotoxic stress, particularly stress associated with exposure to ionizing radiation.<\/p>\n

To this end, they use a range of model systems (Saccharomyces cerevisiae<\/em>, Helicobacter pylori<\/em>), 2D and 3D cultures of primary cells and cell lines (human or mouse), as well as preclinical models (mice).<\/p>\n

The overall objective is to improve our understanding of the development of various cancerous and non-cancerous diseases, with a view to proposing new, targeted preventive and\/or therapeutic strategies.<\/p>\n
