Hebe Vessuri is a social anthropologist with solid field research experience who contributed to the emergence and consolidation of the field of social studies of science and technology in Latin America. She got the JD Bernal Prize to the scientific trajectory of the 4S (Society for the Social Study of Science). Her research focus has been on science in the world peripheries, with emphasis in Latin American, the dilemmas of participation / social exclusion and expert knowledge, and the interface between higher education, scientific research and autochthonous or traditional knowledge. With a long record of cooperation serving on many boards and committees of international science, she has chosen to live in several American countries, like Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela. She spends her time during the pandemic at a pied à terre in Buenos Aires.
