Globalisation is at the heart of GRIP’s concerns. In the field of language didactics, however, little attention has been paid to the combination of major global trends and local contextual characteristics. There is a real need for reflection in this area, particularly in the teaching of languages to specialised groups in commerce, law, medicine and tourism, who are constantly confronted with the question of norms and standards of professional communication. In this sector, many questions remain unanswered. Which practices are most representative of a given specialised language? Those of the European countries which were the historic cradles of the language and which still produce a large proportion of the teaching material published? Those of the emerging countries with more dynamic demographics which will soon have a much larger number of speakers? Those of the most influential countries, which are imposing communicative practices in languages other than their own? From a global perspective that integrates so many outlines, can we still speak of a specialised language in the singular: beyond local lexical and phonological variations, is there, in terms of discourse and communication, a business English? a French for fashion? a medical French?
Papers may be presented in English or French. The abstract should be of 300 words, 5 keywords. To be sent to: lsp.globalisation@gmail.com
