Internship conditions by speciality
You will find in this page the information concerning the modalities of internship, by level and by speciality.
Bachelor’s level (Licence 3)
Computational Linguistics
Mandatory internship of at least 35 hours (1 week full-time). The internship is not graded, but it must be validated. To do so, the internship tutor must send this form or this form to the School office, with a copy to the head of the L3 LI program.
Theoretical and Experimental Linguistics
Mandatory internship of at least 70 hours (2 weeks full-time). The internship is not graded, but it must be validated. To do this, you must send:
- a 1-2 page report to the L3 LTE supervisor (Lisa Brunetti, lisa.brunetti@u-paris.fr)
- this form or this form, filled in by the tutor, to the school department, with a copy to the L3 LTE supervisor.
Linguistics and French as a Foreign Language
- Mandatory internship of at least 35 hours (1 week full-time).
- The FLE internship is an observation internship that must be prepared.
- Validation: see the L3 FLE supervisor (Carla Soares Jesel, carla.soaresjesel@u-paris.fr)
Bi-licence Lettres/Sciences du Langage
- for students who have chosen the parcours FLE : follow the instructions of the parcours “Linguistics and French as a Foreign Language” above;
- for students who have chosen the parcours Linguistique :
- Mandatory internship of at least 35 hours (1 week full-time). The internship is not graded, but it must be validated. To do so, you must send:
- a 1-2 page report to the person in charge of the ‘Language sciences’ block of the bilicence (Lisa Brunetti, lisa.brunetti@u-paris.fr);
- this form or this form, filled in by the tutor, to the person in charge of the ‘Language sciences’ block.
NB: the deadline for sending the form is August 31, but the L3 cannot be validated until the internship form has been returned. In practice, if your internship takes place during the summer, you can ask for the validation of the form by your supervisor a little before the end of the internship.
Master level (M1)
Computational linguistics
- Minimum duration: the equivalent of one month full-time (22 days, 154 hours).
- Even if it is not a legal obligation, unpaid M1 LI internships will not be accepted by the teaching staff.
- Validation: the mandatory internship is not graded, but it must be validated. To do so, the internship supervisor must send this form or this form to the school office before August 31.
Theoretical and Experimental Linguistics
- Minimum duration: 70 hours, i.e. 2 weeks full-time.
- The internship is usually unpaid, but there are exceptions.
- The internship can last longer if employers offer it.
- The choice of internship is made in agreement with the person in charge of the year’s pedagogy, who also signs the agreement (teacher-referent).
- The mandatory internship is not graded, but it must be validated. To do so, a 2-page report must be sent to the year’s director, and the internship supervisor must send this form to the school office before August 31.
Linguistics Applied to the Didactics of the FLE
- Minimum duration: 60 hours of observation, or any combination deemed equivalent by the person in charge of the year’s pedagogy.
- The internship is usually unpaid, but there are exceptions.
- The internship may last longer if employers offer it.
- The internship can be carried out in a “pearl” way (for example 1 day per week), or in an intensive way (during the spring vacations).
- The choice of the internship is made in agreement with the pedagogical director of the year, who also signs the convention (teacher-referent).
