Seung Yung KIM, Kansai Gaigo University

Seung-young Kim is a professor of International History and Politics at Kansai Gaidai University. He taught at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Sheffield until 2018, and has published on the US-East Asian relations.  He has been working with JSPS research project about the Japanese-French diplomacy in 1900-1933. 

In this conference, he will explain the history of Japanese-French diplomatic relations in the first half of 20th century, in particular the impacts of Japanese-French diplomatic estrangement during the 1931-33 Manchurian Crisis in the region as well as recent memory-related issue in Northeast Asia.
