Clouds: X chromosome activity at various levels
Female human embryonic stem cells that resemble the young human epiblast (embryo proper), which is yet to silence one of its two X chromosomes. The active X chromosomes can be identified by expression from a single locus such as X-linked lncRNA XACT (green) or at a global level by the cloud of transcription (red) coming from the X.
