The Dean

Sylvain Moutier is a professor of developmental psychology. Until 2019, he was the director of Doctoral School 261 “Cognition, Conduct and Human Behavior”, a member of Université Paris Descartes’ Board of Directors, as well as a member of the Board of the National University Council (16th section). He is currently a member of the Laboratory of Psychopathology and Health Processes (LPPS) at the Institute of Psychology. He has conducted research in the area of cognitive development in children, adolescents and adults, including those with autism, in relation to decision-making and logic.

“The creation of our Faculty was a historic and joyous occasion and will encourage all stakeholders to contribute towards making a new collaborative approach to working together. I am fully aware of the responsibilities of being the Dean. During my term in office, I hope to overcome challenges, meet expectations, and carry out our Faculty’s mission to serve the public, by paying close attention to education, research, international outlook, governance, social dialogue, and functional organization. I wish to organize general assembly meetings in the fall so we can truly learn about each other and work on specific areas such as the University’s inaugural years, the transition to skills-based approaches, preparatory programs, digital humanities, and the fundamentals of our impending internal regulations. Our University is no longer just a place for learning, but is now a place where students can be fulfilled in their education and can fully contribute to the society at large.”
