Making Circle U. a Multilingual Alliance
“Multilingualism is not a state, it’s an action.” At the conference, participants shared the view that language skills are central to the construction of the European Education Area. They are essential to mobility, cooperation and mutual understanding across borders. The European Union defines multilingualism as “the ability of societies, institutions, groups and individuals to use more than one language on a regular basis in their daily lives”.
Members of the multilingualism taskforce of the Circle U. Think & Do Tank along with guests representing the European Union, policymakers and other alliances, including UNITA and EUTOPIA, discussed the role of multilingualism in alliances and the higher education sector as a whole.
In the expansion phase starting as of November 1, 2023, Circle U. will continue the work initiated by the Think and Do Tank, in its Multilingualism Interculturality and Languages Lab (CU.mil), led by UCLouvain.
