Eiffel Scholarship 2024 call for applications is launched!

Master Degree level

The scholarship is awarded for :

•  maximum 12 months for a Master 2 programme
•  maximum 24 months for a Master 1 programme
•  maximum 36 months for an engineering degree programme

PhD Degree level

The Eiffel scholarship is attributed for a maximum of 18 months (divisible into stays of at least 6 months with justification and decision taken by the commission;

• PhD level: monthly allowance of €1,700 (since January 1, 2021).
• Master’s level: monthly allowance of €1,181.

Master’s level

International students aged 25 or under (born after March 1998) in Master or engineering degree in the following fields:

– Sciences and technology: Biology and Health, Ecological Transition, Mathematics and digital, Engineering Sciences
– Humanities and social sciences: History, French language and civilization, Law, Political science, Economics and management.

Students must apply for the first time. The scholarship cannot be combined with another French government grant.

Please note that students currently living in France are no longer eligible for the scholarship.

PhD level

International PhD students aged 30 or under (born after March 1993) for the first year of a co-supervised or co-directed thesis in the following fields:

– Science and technology: Biology and Health, Ecological Transition, Mathematics and digital, Engineering Sciences
– Humanities and social sciences: History, French language and civilization, Law, Political sciences, Economics and management.

Students must apply for the first time. The scholarship cannot be combined with another French government grant.

Step 1

Verify the eligibility requirements by reading the Campus France Application Guide.

Step 2

Select your programme:

• For the Master’s level, choose a programme offered by Université Paris Cité) and verify that it is eligible for the Eiffel scholarship. Read more on the programmes at UParis Cité.
• For the PhD level, you must apply for the first year of your thesis and be in the process of obtaining co-supervision or co-direction, provide the co-supervision agreement or a co-direction certificate signed by the French and foreign parties, or any other document attesting the co-supervision / co-direction project.

Step 3

Prepare your application. The documents must be translated into English or French. Note: One document is required in PDF format. All documents must be sent in a ZIP file entitled “EIFFEL23/24_NOM_Prénom”.

For Master programme, the application file must include:

• A photocopy of your passport or an identity card
• Curriculum vitae in French or English (1 to 2 pages)
• Copy of academic transcripts since you are in Higher Education
• Academic ranking from previous year (optional, but strongly recommended to demonstrate your excellence). If your university does not systematically issue this document, you should ask the person in charge of your course to deliver a signed attestation mentioning your ranking.
• Your degrees/diplomas
• Certificate or diploma of the master’s degree language, if it is not your native language
• Motivation letter/professional project from the candidate in French or English (1 to 2 pages, explaining the choice of studies in France in relation to previous studies and future professional career.
• Recommendation letters from academic and professional referees (maximum 3 letters)

For PhD level, the application file must include :

• A photocopy of passport (identity page) or ID
• Curriculum vitae in French or English (1 to 2 pages)
• Copy of academic transcripts for the last three years
• Diplomas of higher education
• Motivation letter / professional project, written in French or English (1 to 2 pages) explaining the choice of studies in France in relation to previous studies and future professional career.
• Recommendation letters from academic and professional referees (max 3 letters);
• Language certificate or diploma (in the language of study);
• International co-supervision agreement or co-supervision certificate signed by both French and foreign parties, or any document attesting a co-supervision project (in case of co-supervision, attach a letter signed by the 2 directors);
• A presentation of the thesis project and research progress, in French or English (1 to 5 pages). If possible, a proof of one paper presented at a conference (cite references, attach an excerpt)
• Appreciation of the thesis director (attached to UPCité) concerning the candidate’s excellence and the coherence, relevance and innovative nature of the thesis project.
• Motivated notice from the Université Paris Cité laboratory director (can be a simple email)
• Overall financing plan for the thesis

Candidates pre-selected by Université Paris Cité will be contacted by email before 01/12/2023. If you are not contacted after this date, it means that Université Paris Cité has not selected your application for the Eiffel scholarship.

Incomplete applications sent after the deadline or do not comply with the procedure will not be considered and applicants will not receive a reply.
