The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has unveiled its 2023 ranking of the world’s top 2,000 universities. For the first time since Université Paris Cité was established, it ranks 39th, marking its entry into the world’s top 0.2%.
The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has been publishing this academic ranking, since 2012. It evaluates the universities’ performance in research and education (see Methodology below). Out of the 20,531 universities ranked in 2023, University Paris Cité enters the top 40 for the first time moving up three positions compared with the two previous years. Université Paris Cité has also risen to 3rd place in the national ranking.
Methodology

- The employability of the alumni: based on the professional success of graduates, measured by the number of alumni that have held top positions in major companies (25 %).
- The quality of the faculty staff: measured by the number of faculty members who have won prestigious academic distinctions (10 %).
- Research:
- Research output: measured by the total number of research papers (10%).
- High-quality publications: measured by the number of research papers appearing in top-tier journals (10%).
- Influence: measured by the number of research papers appearing in highly influential journals (10%).
- Citations: measured by the number of highly cited research papers (10%).
