Faculty of Sciences management team

In accordance with Order No. 2023-107 of 26 June 2023, Maximilien Cazayous was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Sciences by the President of Université Paris Cité, following a proposal from the Faculty Council, for a four-year term. The Faculty of Sciences management team is also composed of several Vice Deans who support the Dean in implementing the Faculty’s strategy and activities.

Maximilien Cazayous is Professor of Physics at Université Paris Cité. His research, conducted within the MPQ laboratory, focuses on understanding the properties of quantum materials through the use of light. For nearly twenty years, he has taught students from the first year of undergraduate studies to the second year of Master’s programmes. He also created and directed a work-study Master’s programme in the field of energy.

From 2013 to 2017, he served as President of the Academic Council for Education and Student Life (CFVU) at Université Paris Diderot and was a member of the first Board of Directors of Université Paris Cité.

Maximilien Cazayous envisions a Faculty that serves both its constituent departments and the wider university community, ensuring a safe and supportive environment in which staff and students can fulfil their missions and achieve their goals. He believes the Faculty should be a place where departments work together to develop shared strategies, including research priorities, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary programmes, and student support initiatives.

The Faculty must also reaffirm its values and take firm action against inequalities, harassment, and gender-based and sexual violence. Finally, it should play a leading role in the ecological transition through its teaching, research, practices, and partnerships.
