The University of Toronto and the Université Paris Cité and are launching a joint call for proposals in order to further develop their research collaboration and doctoral program strength. This call invites research proposals from all disciplines. The joint call is intended to fund up to 3 years of a PhD fellowship and 12 months of travel/living expenses in Paris or Toronto starting in September 2025.
Eligibility: Who Can Apply?
To apply, you must form a research team composed of:
- A principal investigator from the Université Paris Cité
- A principal investigator from the University of Toronto
- A doctoral candidate from one of the two universities, supervised by one of the two principal investigators.
The three team members will collaborate on a common research question.
Applying as a student
This call is open to students from Université Paris Cité who have obtained or will obtain a master’s degree or equivalent diploma in 2024 or 2025, and to PhD students from the University of Toronto who will be registered in the first or second year of their PhD program in 2025-26.
Applying as a Principal Investigator
Applicants from Université Paris Cité must be affiliated with doctoral schools or laboratories authorized to supervise PhD students. The host research unit must be affiliated with one of UPCité’s Graduate Schools, and the proposed research project must be approved by one of them.
Applicants from the University of Toronto must be members of the faculty with graduate faculty member status.
Please note that a principal investigator cannot submit more than one application in the framework of this call.
UPCité’s Graduate Schools at the center of this call
This call is a valuable opportunity for students to pursue a doctorate within one of Université Paris Cité’s Graduate Schools. These internationally oriented programs emphasize multidisciplinary research to prepare doctoral candidates for major challenges related to « planetary health ».
Université Paris Cité’s 28 Graduate Schools offer training across a wide range of fields, from medicine and natural sciences to engineering and humanities and social sciences.
