The SMARTS-UP project, managed by DRIVE’s Structuring Projects Department, has led to the creation of 19 new Graduate Schools. This ambitious programme contributes to the internationalisation of research training by welcoming the most talented international students. Here is a glimpse at the welcome evening event held for the SMARTS-UP mobility recipients, organised at the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires last month.
For the 1st edition of the SMARTS-UP international scholarship programme, 665 applications were received and the top 66 candidates were awarded scholarships for the academic year 2021-2022. A welcome event was organised at the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires (CRI) on October 4th. Forty-one recipients attended the event and met Prof. Matteo CACCIARI, scientific and technical coordinator of the project. They were also welcomed by the SMARTS-UP team members : Marko TOCILOVAC, Ludivine BREGER and Thanh-My LY.
The international dimension is at the core of the SMARTS-UP programme. It is integrated in the global institutional strategy for the internationalisation of research and training programmes at Université Paris Cité. All the Graduate Schools have a global outlook. The ambition is to attract the best Master and PhD students to our university.
The SMARTS-UP programme facilitates and assists the awardees when they arrive in the Ile-de-France region. This an important step in promoting internationalisation and excellence in our Master’s programmes. The student experience is a priority for our team. We were delighted to be able to welcome and congratulate the recipients in person. We were pleased with the broad participation in the welcome event and positive feedback. We extend our best wishes to all SMARTS-UP laureates for the academic year 2021-2022.

During the event, the facilities and tools were presented to the students to ease their integration. It was also an opportunity for them to mingle and meet other students coming from 29 different countries spread over the 4 continents : Africa (16), America (16), Asia,(17) and Europe (17).
“Thank you for the event last night. We all had a good time and it was fun to meet the other recipients who received the scholarship. “The diner was a great social and gastronomical experience” “Thank you again for organising the welcome event!” “Thank you for the event and your support, it is highly appreciated.”
